Azra Rajah

Azra Rajah is the administrator in the Chair for Critical Studies in Higher Education Transformation (CriSHET) at Nelson Mandela University. She holds a BA: English Literature Studies and Applied Language Studies (2020) and BA Honours: Applied Language Studies (Cum Laude) (2021). Her research interests include Critical Discourse Analysis, Semantics, Women and Gender Studies, and the representations of culture, identity, and sexuality.

Azra has worked as a tutor for the Department of English Literature Studies (2018 to 2020) and the Department of Applied Language Studies (2019 to 2021). She has also served as the Vice-president (2019) and President (2020) of the Golden Key International Honour Society Nelson Mandela University Chapter. Identifying as a “Queen of many trades”, Azra is currently a contract lecturer at a higher education institution, editor for the Mandela University’s School of Language, Media, and Communication Writing Centre; Graduate advisor for the Golden Key International Honour Society Nelson Mandela University Chapter; and Indian classical dance graduate (in Bharathanatyam and Kathak) who has performed at national and international levels.
