The Advancing Critical University Studies Across Africa (ACUSAfrica) network is excited to announce its 2023 conference on the theme “Charging towards critical canons of knowledge production in the African university” to be held in Accra, Ghana from the 11th to the 13th of October.

We would like to invite you to put in an abstract for a provocation, panel, book launch or other presentation, as per the attached concept note and call. To do so, please click here

The conference will be organised by the University of Ghana, Queen’s University Belfast and Nelson Mandela University, with partial funding from the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS).

The ACUSAfrica network aims to advance Critical University Studies (CUS) across Africa in dialogue with scholarship from the Global South. Underpinning our work is the endeavour to find ‘other’ ways to study universities capable of thinking plural forms of emancipatory higher education imaginations and futures across Africa.

The 2023 conference will locate the network’s formative questions within the context of critical thought surrounding canons and registers of knowledge production in the African university. The conference seeks to set the pace for leveraging location and sources of teaching and learning to programmatically advance CUS across the continent.
