On 25 March 2021, we will be hosting our third seminar in the Africa and Knowledge Seminar Series, with the theme ‘Nelson Mandela and the Topology of African Encounter with the World’.

Amid growing studies of time in higher education, few have studied and theorized the interconnections between faculty life and temporality – the way we make sense of and relate to time changes – in the urban Global South context. Drawing on interviews and participant observations with 22 faculty in Dhaka, Bangladesh, we aim to illuminate the notion of shomoyscapes, and how such timescapes manifest among our faculty respondents.
